How a tip calculator splits a bill
CalcKit does not guess local customs. It applies a percent, rounds to cents, then divides.
The three numbers
- Tip = bill × (tip percent ÷ 100), rounded to the nearest cent.
- Total = bill + tip, also rounded to the nearest cent.
- Per person = total ÷ number of people, rounded to the nearest cent.
A worked table
Bill $86.40, 18% tip, two people. Tip = $15.55. Total = $101.95. Each person = $50.98. The last cent can sit on one card in real life; the calculator reports the equal rounded share.
What you type as “bill”
Pre-tax, after tax, or after a service charge — the tool does not add tax. If a venue already included a service charge, decide whether you still want a percent on top. That is a choice, not something this page prescribes.
