How an equal bill split works
Everyone pays the same share. Tip is a percent you can leave at zero.
The share
Per person = (bill + tip) ÷ number of people, after the tip and the total are each rounded to the nearest cent. If tip is 0%, that is just the bill divided by n.
A worked table
Bill $120, four people, no tip. Each person = $30.00. Add 15% tip and the tip is $18.00, the total is $138.00, and each person is $34.50.
Leftover cents
Cards in real life sometimes absorb the last cent. The calculator reports the equal rounded share of the rounded total, not a second independent round of bill and tip.
